My name is Janine Smith and my job title is graphic designer.

However, my interest lies in all aspects of design. Digital design, graphic design, web design, UI/UX (product design), social media marketing, video editing etc.

​

I started my career in the print industry and, over the years, through exposure from holding certain positions, studies, and my own general curiosity, my competencies have grown beyond that. I have experience in branding, marketing, digital design and brand management. 

I am a team player, as well as a leader. I am able to self-manage and have excellent time management skills. I have many years' experience in roles which require me to meet deadlines under a high pace and pressure environment. I am very comfortable when I find myself engaging or holding meetings; in brainstorming sessions; while discussing ideas, feedback and changes with clients and when dealing with external service providers.

I always want to learn more about my field. I constantly learn about new trends, tools and design techniques. I will google, read articles, watch YouTube videos, read recommended books and complete online courses that I have access to all in the name of improving myself. I am an avid reader in my personal capacity and feel like this gives me an enormous advantage when it comes to applying my skills to dealing with copy (general proofing, extracting headings or pull quotes and spelling and grammar).

Innovation, improvement, competence, integrity and a hunger to learn are important traits in a designer and these come naturally to me.

I have taught myself various skills throughout my 15 year career and I continue to work on sharpening these skillsets in order to make myself not only the best version of myself but also a well rounded designer.

I feel I am an asset to any design team and company, as I always hold my standards extremely high and do my best to deliver the best work I possibly can. Every job that lands on my desk gets my full attention, focus and love.

Design is not just what I do as a career it is part of who I am.
